ABOUT
REPRESENTING THE INTERNATIONAL CHABAD-LUBAVITCH MOVEMENT IN THE NATION'S CAPITAL
In addition to serving as the representative entity in our nation's capital of the international Chabad-Lubavitch movement - and thus being directly responsible for events and activities of national and international reach and significance - American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad) in Washington DC offers an array of interesting and inspiring programs which reach out to members of our community of all backgrounds and affiliations.

NATIONAL
There are over 1,500 affiliated centers, with thousands of men, women, and youth serving hundreds of communities in all 50 states. These centers run the gamut from early childhood education to rabbinical ordination and teacher's colleges, chaplaincy programs and crisis intervention, along with traditional yet open religious and support services offered regardless of prior affiliation. The goal of all these is the same - to help raise Jewish awareness, make the community stronger and our world more welcoming.
LOCAL
Washington, DC, is one of the largest, most prominent and diverse Jewish communities in the US. With a variety of innovative programs, we succeed in reaching thousands of Jewish men, women and children from various backgrounds, helping promote a stronger Jewish sense of identity throughout the year, in fun and engaging ways, open to all. From little children to young professionals to the elderly and people with special needs, to staffers and senior officials in our government, we are here to serve in whatever way we can.
GLOBAL
With approximately 4,000 affiliates in over 90 countries, the international Chabad-Lubavitch movement is the largest Jewish network of educational and social services in the world today. American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad) in Washington, DC is constantly called upon to help advise, facilitate and support these efforts across the globe, from conferences, diplomatic events and regional initiatives and challenges, to disaster relief, crisis response and other humanitarian relief efforts, which are non-sectarian.
NATIONAL
Our nation's capital brings together leaders and communal members from across the United States, and from around the world. Through a robust series of initiatives - such as Education and Sharing Day, USA, the National Menorah Council, the Capitol Jewish Forum, The "Washington Torah" project, The Lamplighter Awards Program and the Jewish Student Support Center, American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad) helps to keenly foster a sense of identity in this unique community of Washington, DC.
